“Baby Blue”

She may not look like much, but Baby Blue is close to our hearts!

Baby Blue is a 1987 Sprint car that became our first conversion in early 2007. As a prototype, we have been driving it around Flagstaff, Arizona since then to test the technology and to identify improvements.

Baby Blue has an electric motor in place of its gas engine. And batteries fill the space that was once taken up by the radiator, air filter and other gas engine necessities. There are also batteries under the rear seat.

Baby Blue gets 35 miles on a single charge – well within the 30 miles 64% of all driving trips are. It charges in 8 hours from a standard 110 VAC outlet. A 3-hour charge is possible from a standard 220 VAC outlet, like the one that powers your electric clothes dryer.

And acceleration? 0-60 in 12 seconds with a top speed of 85 mph—beating the original gas engine by 3 seconds.
. This is no golf cart! In fact, we’ve had cases of near whiplash in employees who hit the gas, er, accelerator too hard.

You won’t be able to buy a car like Baby Blue. She’s too old and short on luxury. Our sales vehicles will be brand-new automobiles with greater range and all of the standard bells and whistles—the same cars you see on a dealer’s lot. With an important difference, of course!

They’ll be all-electric.

Believe in the dream! It’s about to come true.
